Abstract

The Henan Section of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe Water Diversion Project serves as a critical hub for inter-basin water transfer,and the changes in its water quality play a significant role in regional water resources security and ecological balance.This study focused on the sur-face water and groundwater of the Qingshui River.Based on the monitoring data collected from October 2022 to June 2024(7 rounds of sur-face water sampling and 10 rounds of groundwater sampling)and employing the Mann-Kendall trend test(to quantify abrupt water quality changes)and Spearman correlation analysis(to reveal indicator interrelationships),it systematically analyzed the spatial-temporal evolution patterns of water quality.The results indicate that the surface water exhibits a high compliance rate for the permanganate index(100%).However,exceedances are observed for pH,fluoride and total phosphorus,among which,in January 2024,the concentration of NH3-N is in-creased sharply to 3.77 mg/L(exceeding the standard by 277%).The overall quality of groundwater is generally superior to that of surface water,although occasional exceedances of standards for total hardness and chloride were observed at the 46+100 sections.Fluctuations in groundwater pH show a significant association with fertilization periods.The changes in water quality are jointly influenced by the dilution effect of the project's water diversion,agricultural non-point source pollution(nitrogen and phosphorus inputs during fertilization periods)and seasonal hydrological fluctuations.
