Effects of Different Seedling Ages,Plant Spacings and Base-topdressing Fertilizer Ratios on the Yield and Quality of Early-maturing Pumpkin in Spring

Abstract
To investigate the effects of cultivation factors on the yield and quality of pumpkin(Cucurbita spp.)and to optimize the cultivation technologies for early-maturing pumpkin in spring,a study was conducted using the'Cuili No.6'variety under spring plastic-greenhouse conditions in the Shaoxing area.The experiment systematically examined the effects of three single factors on seedling traits,yield and fruit quality,including seedling age[3 leaves and 1 heart,2 leaves and 1 heart(CK1)],plant spacing[55,50,45 cm(CK2)]and base-topdressing fertilizer ratio[3∶7,5∶5,7∶3,10∶0(CK3)].The results showed that the 3-leaf-1-heart seedling age treatment produced superior quality seedlings,with the whole-plant fresh weight and dry weight significantly increased by 12.9%and extremely significantly increased by 55.2%compared to CK1,respectiveliy,and the strong seedling index was significantly improved by 47.7%.The highest yield per unit area was achieved with a plant spacing of 50 cm,but the soluble solids content was significantly lower than that of CK2.With a base-topdressing fertilizer ratio of 3∶7,the yield per 667 m2 reached the highest,significantly increasing by 22.2%and 4.2%compared to the 5∶5 and 7∶3 treatments,respectively,while showing no significant difference from CK3.Additionally,the soluble solids content under the fertilizer ratio of 3∶7 was significantly increased by 10.3%and 7.5%compared to the 7∶3 treatment and CK3,respectively.In conclusion,the cultivation combination of 3-leaf-l-heart seedling age,50 cm plant spacing and 3∶7 base-topdressing fertilizer ratio can achieve the goal of high yield and quality in pumpkin production.It is recommended to implement this approach flexibly based on specific production objectives.关键词
