Abstract
Hypertension is a common cardiovascular disease with a high incidence rate,which is prone to causing damage to target organs such as the heart,brain,and kidneys.The treatment of hypertension in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has a long history,especially the external treatment methods,which have significant advantages in preventing or reducing the occurrence of drug side effects.This review discusses the clinical experience of Professor Zhao Huiling in treating primary hypertension with bloodletting therapy,summarizes the theoretical origins of bloodletting therapy from ancient TCM literature,and elaborates on its application in treating primary hypertension with excess or mixed deficiency-excess patterns by calming the liver and extinguishing wind,clearing liver heat and fire,eliminating phlegm-heat,promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis,and unblocking Qi and blood.The therapy follows the principles of selecting acupoints based on syndrome differentiation and meridian theory,determining the amount of blood to be let based on syndrome differentiation and typing,and considering both the root cause and symptoms of the disease as well as the urgency of the condition when deciding on bloodletting.This review provides a theoretical basis for the treatment of primary hypertension with bloodletting therapy in TCM and offers clinical guidance for the external treatment of hypertension in TCM.关键词
