Abstract

Under the strategy of building China into a leading country in education,Shanghai aims to transform senior educational approach in primary and secondary schools through a comprehensive reform of the high school entrance examination,which integrates subject-based exams with comprehensive quality evaluation.This paper analyses the legitimacy logic from the perspectives of national policy directions,social demands for fairness,and references to international educational trends.It reveals three contradictions,i.e.,the contradiction between the increase in examination disciplines and the reduction in available class hours,the contradiction between the anti-"score-only"design and the formalism of"comprehensive quality evaluation",and the contradiction between the increased workload of teachers and the lack of management coordination.To address these challenges,the paper proposes optimal suggestions such as promoting the organic integration of disciplines to construct a scientific evaluation system,improving the system design of comprehensive quality evaluation to adhere to the bottom line of educational fairness,and strengthening school management efficiency to stimulate teachers'intrinsic motivation.
