Selection and Change of Representative Leaders in the Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area by the CPC Central Committee During the Yan'an Period,and Its Influence

Abstract
During the Yan'an period,the CPC Central Committee selected,cultivated,highly val-ued,and replaced the representative leaders of the former Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area,which was a crucial measure to consolidate the stability of the base area and maintain the the unity within the par-ty.After arriving at the Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area,the CPC Central Committee first chose Guo Hongtao as a representative leader of the base area,placing great trust and high value on him.How-ever,as the the CPC Central Committee deepened its understanding of the"elimination of counter-revolutionaries in Northern Shaanxi"issue and due to political reasons,Guo Hongtao's status as a representative leader of the Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area began to waver.After the Northwest High-ranking Cadres Association was criticized and liquidated,his status as a representative leader of the base area collapsed.During the Yan'an period,the CPC Central Committee gradually recognized Gao Gang's status and contributions in the history of the Northwest revolution,and subsequently cultivat-ed him as a representative leader of the base area.During the Northwest Senior Cadre Meeting,the CPC Central Committee redefined the nature of"elimination of counterrevolutionaries in Northern Shaanxi",affirmed Gao Gang's historical contributions in the Party history in Northwest,and offi-cially confirmed Gao Gang's political status as a representative leader of the Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area.The selection and replacement of representative leaders in the Shaanxi-Gansu Base Area during the Yan'an period was a strategic decision made by the CPC Central Committee with Mao Ze-dong as the core to unite and balance the complex inner-party relations in the northwest,according to the special party conditions of the northwest revolution.关键词
