Abstract

To investigate the spatiotemporal variation of vegetation cover in Southwest China,particularly in relation to topography,landform,and climate,an analysis was conducted using dynamic change data of NDVI in Yunnan Province from 2000 to 2022.A total of 17 factors,including climate,topography,landform,land use,and socioeconomic factors,were selected for analysis.The study employed trend analysis,ArcGIS spatial analysis,and geographic detector methods to examine the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of vegetation cover in Yunnan Province and identify the driving factors.The results showed that:(1)In 2022,the average NDVI of vegetation coverage in Yunnan Province was 85%,and the NDVI of 74.16%of the province exceeded 80%;In terms of distribution,it was higher in the southwest,lower in the central Yunnan,higher in the tropics than in the subtropics,and relatively low in the temperate zone.(2)In the past 23 years,the NDVI in Yunnan Province has showed a linear upward trend,with an average annual growth rate of 0.0063,and the growth trend has been consistent in different climatic zones.(3)The analysis of geographic detectors showed that annual precipitation,landform type and land use type had the greatest explanatory power on the spatial distribution of vegetation cover in Yunnan Province,and the explanatory power of the factor exceeded 10%.The effects of annual precipitation,landform type and land use type on vegetation cover were more significant and the interaction was the most obvious.This study provides valuable insights for informing sustainable development policies related to natural resources and ecology in Yunnan Province.
