Research on sustainable development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region based on the ecosystem services supply and demand

Abstract
The relation between the supply and demand of ecosystem services can reveal the complex internal connections between human and land systems,which is the core content of sustainable development.Based on the calculation of ecosystem services'supply and demand in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,we analyzed the spatial coupling relation,balance status,and degree of supply and demand's coordinated development systematically using the multiple methods,such as the quadrant matching method,supply-demand balance index,and coupling coordination degree model.Finally,we determined sustainable zoning based on the relation between the supply and demand of ecosystem services.The results showed that:(1)Overall,the regions with a large supply of ecosystem services were located mainly in the Yanshan Mountains,the Taihang Mountains,and the northeast of the Bashang Plateau.Demand for ecosystem services decreased from cities to their surrounding areas gradually.The demand was high in the southeast Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and low in the northwest,with extremely significant regional differences.(2)Spatially,the areas with mismatches in ecosystem services'supply and demand accounted for 67.60%of the total area.The supply and demand balance patterns were divided primarily into three types:general deficit,balanced supply and demand,and general surplus.The average supply-demand coordination index was 0.48,indicating that the relation between ecosystem services'supply and demand was relatively coordinated overall.(3)Based on the supply and demand relation of ecosystem services and the current regional development status,the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region could be divided into five zones:resilient urban construction zone,ecological economic circulation zone,ecological industry development zone,ecological protection core zone,and ecological economic efficient demonstration zone.In addition,we proposed differentiated development strategies to address the prominent issues in regional development.We hope that these suggestions can provide reference for ecosystem management and sustainable development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.关键词
