Abstract

With China's economic development entering a new normal phase,industrial restructuring and upgrading,and rapid advancement of alternative fuels,diesel consumption demand continues to decline,creating an urgent need for refineries to reduce diesel yields.Based on characteristic property differences among diesel pool components from various sources,this study systematically compares feasible diesel yield reduction pathways and assesses their effectiveness.Research indicates that refineries can flexibly adopt process-specific strategies such as distillation cut-point adjustment,hydrocracking,and catalytic cracking to selectively reprocess and convert targeted diesel components.The analysis focuses on technical solutions and economic viability for converting diesel into higher-value products such as gasoline,jet fuel,light aromatics,and ethylene cracking feedstocks.A case study of light cycle oil to gasoline and aromatics(LTAG)technology implementation at Refinery C demonstrates successful reduction of light cycle oil(LCO)yield,validating the technical approach.To ensure compliance with diesel pool quality standards while minimizing diesel output and maximizing overall economic efficiency,refineries must optimize the selection and integration of conversion routes according to their unique operational configurations.
