Abstract

Tunnel structures in expansive rock strata are prone to defects such as tunnel floor cracking and invert heave,which endanger traffic safety.To solve this problem at the survey and design stage,this paper took a tunnel of the Jidayuan high-speed railway passing through Tertiary sandstone and mudstone strata as the engineering background.First,an expansion test was carried out to obtain the relationship between sample expansibility,water content,and swelling pressure.Second,the effect of different invert thicknesses and invert rise-to-span ratios on the safety factor and deformation of the secondary lining was studied.Finally,the tunnel's invert structure and drainage measures were optimized.The research results showed that:(1)the initial water content of the surrounding rock affected the magnitude of the subsequent swelling pressure.The higher the initial water content of the surrounding rock,the smaller the swelling pressure generated later,and the smaller the impact on the structure.(2)Under the swelling pressure load,the safety factor of the arch wall was much greater than that of the wall foot and the invert.With the increase of the invert rise-to-span ratio and the invert thickness,the wall foot became the most unfavorable position.(3)The invert rise-to-span ratio had a greater influence on the safety factor of the wall foot and the invert than the invert thickness.The influence of the invert rise-to-span ratio on the safety factor of the invert was greater than on that of the wall foot.(4)The invert rise-to-span ratio and invert thickness had a significant influence on crown settlement and invert heave.The invert thickness had a greater influence on the crown settlement,and the influence of the invert rise-to-span ratio and the invert thickness on invert heave was more consistent.For tunnel structures in expansive strata,it is recommended to first optimize the tunnel profile,second,appropriately increase the local structural stiffness,and strengthen the tunnel drainage capacity,while also carrying out a targeted design considering the construction convenience and project economy.
