Abstract

Turnouts,as one of the critical weak components in the straddle-type monorail system,are crucial for ensuring train operational safety and efficiency.However,current research on straddle-type monorail vehicle dynamics primarily focuses on conventional tracks,with insufficient analysis of vehicle behavior when laterally traversing turnouts.To address this research gap,a spatial dynamic model of the monorail vehicle was developed,taking the vehicle as the research object,based on multi-body dynamics theory and the FI ALA tire model,while neglecting inter-vehicle interactions.Based on this model,a study was conducted on the mechanical behavior of straddle-type monorail vehicles laterally traversing joint turnouts,flexible joint turnouts,and movable turnouts in order to investigate the variations in wheel-rail interaction forces.Finally,a comparative analysis was conducted on the differences in wheel-rail dynamic interactions for monorail vehicles on different types of turnouts.The research findings indicated that the lateral dynamic behavior of straddle-type monorail vehicles significantly deteriorated when passing through turnouts.In broken-line turnouts,such as single-crossing and triple-crossing turnouts,significant oscillations in wheel-rail interaction forces were observed during vehicle passage.In contrast,movable turnouts and flexible joint turnouts exhibited no oscillations due to their smoother track geometry transitions.At a speed limit of 15 km/h,both single-crossing and triple-crossing joint turnouts induced similar lateral guiding wheel forces,measuring approximately 17 kN,and the force amplitude increased linearly with vehicle speed.The lateral guiding wheel forces induced by flexible joint turnouts were significantly smaller than those of the previous two types,reduced by over 40%,and their relationship with vehicle speed exhibited strong nonlinearity.
