Abstract

Objective To observe the application of objective structured clinical examination(OSCE)-guided situational practice teaching model in obstetric nursing teaching and its influence on core competence of nursing students.Methods A total of 79 nursing students in obstetrics practice in Shenzhen People's Hospital from February 2019 to February 2025 were selected as the research objects.Thirty-seven nursing students admitted from February 2019 to January 2022 were divided into control group and implemented traditional teaching model,and 42 nursing students admitted from February 2022 to February 2025 were divided into experimental group and implemented OSCE-guided situational practice teaching model on top of the control group's approach.The theoretical score,OSCE examination score and training satisfaction of nursing students between the two groups were compared.The midwife core competence scale and critical thinking ability scale were used to evaluate the core competency and critical thinking ability of nursing students in the two groups.Results After the training,the scores of theory,OSCE examination,core competence and critical thinking of nursing students in the two groups were improved,and the improvement range of nursing students in the experimental group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).The satisfaction of nursing students in the experimental group with all aspects of the obstetrics teaching model was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of OSCE-guided situational practice teaching model in obstetric nursing teaching is conducive to improving the comprehensive skill level of trainee nurses,enhancing their core competence,and improving the quality of obstetric talent cultivation.
