Abstract

To study the dynamic compaction characteristics of coarse-grained soil in accumulation layers in the high-altitude mountainous areas of western Sichuan,24 groups of mixed coarse-fine grained soil samples were designed under different factors such as fine particle content(n)and moisture content(w)to conduct orthogonal tests of dynamic compaction.The influence laws and mechanisms of different types and levels of factors on the compaction characteristics of the mixed soil were analyzed,and the compaction mechanism of the mixed soil under dynamic impact was revealed based on the energy evolution theory.The results show that:the compaction curve characteristics of the mixed soil are different from those of cohesionless coarse-grained soil,but similar to those of fine-grained soil;the dry density of the mixed soil shows a non-linear attenuation with the increase of fine particle content,and a two-way change trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase of moisture content,with significant interactive influence from each other;the maximum dry density of the mixed soil increases monotonically and the optimal moisture content decreases monotonically with the increase of fine particle content,and the relationship between the two can be expressed by a power function;the compaction characteristics of the mixed soil are jointly de-termined by internal factors such as particle structure and moisture environment,and external factors such as impact load.Its dynamic compaction process is a comprehensive process involving the transformation between the potential energy and kinetic energy of the ram-mer,the energy transfer between the rammer and the mixed soil,and the energy dissipation through soil particle displacement and crush-ing.Essentially,it is a spatio-temporal energy evolution mechanism between different substances and within them.
