From Passive Consumers to Active Correctors:Understanding What are the Driving Factors of Social Correction of Health Misinformation

Abstract
[Purpose/Significance]In the context of the rapid development of the Internet,the speed and quality of net-work information transmission are fast and uneven.Although the government and media organizations have implemented several measures to combat health misinformation on social media,the effectiveness of dispelling rumors has not been satis-factory.As an important part of the Internet,social media users play an important role in the process of information dissemi-nation,and their behavior will also affect refuting rumors.Therefore,in-depth exploration of the drivers of user participation in the governance of health misinformation is essential to develop more effective management strategies.[Methods/Pro-cesses]In this study,user characteristics and health misinformation characteristics were taken as research variables,and Probit model was used for empirical analysis to explore the factors affecting social correction behavior.[Result/Conclu-sions]The results show that users'social capital,personality traits and topic involvement significantly affect their sponta-neous correction of health misinformation.In addition,the text length,emotion and readability of health misinformation play a moderating role.关键词
