The Impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence(GAI)on the Public Opinion:Risk Representation,Governance Challenges,and Reconstruction Pathways

Abstract
[Purpose/Significance]With the development and widespread application of digital technologies repre-sented by Generative Artificial Intelligence(GAI),the security of the cyberspace public opinion ecology faced new cha-llenges and disruptive transformations.The risk patterns and response strategies of public opinion security in cyberspace under the influence of GAI technologies became major scientific issues and pressing social concerns of global interest.[Method/Process]This study introduced the information ecology theory to construct a research framework,and decon-structed and analyzed the public opinion ecology in cyberspace under the influence of GAI from three modules:risk repre-sentation,governance challenges,and reconstruction paths.The aim was to provide new research perspectives and practi-cal paths for future public opinion ecology governance through the proposal of reconstruction pathways.[Result/Conclu-sion]Research finds that the online public opinion ecosystem under the influence of GAI encompasses the following risk characteristics:risks related to information quality and misinformation in cyberspace triggered by GAI,risks related to users'risk perception and irrational behavior,risks related to public opinion convergence and trust,and risks related to the imbalance of the public opinion ecosystem and multiple social risks.Based on a systematic review of existing gover-nance challenges,this study proposes reconstruction pathways at four levels:at the information aspect,it implements auto-matic verification of online content and adopts flexible content management mechanisms;at the information person aspect,it builds a governance mechanism characterized by"multi-actor collaboration and proactive participation";at the informa-tion technology aspect,it advances the empowerment of cyberspace public opinion governance through GAI;and at the information environment aspect,it establishes a co-constructed mechanism integrating micro-level and macro-level envi-ronmental governance.关键词
