摘要

Abstract

Cognitive effort refers to the volitional mental activities individuals actively engage in to overcome habitual responses and achieve goals.Current research in cognitive effort measurement remains constrained by theoretical heterogeneity and insufficient methodological standardization,lacking precise multidimensional assessment approaches.Existing measurement paradigms can be categorized into self-report scales(2 types)and experimental methods(11 types).Self-report scales are susceptible to validity and reliability in assessing cognitive effort,metacognition,individual differences,testing environments,and cultural factors,while experimental methods face limitations such as the conflation of cognitive effort and task difficulty,individual variations in cognitive capacity,temporal factors,and divergent theoretical models.Future research should prioritize enhancing the accuracy and reliability of self-report instruments,integrate interdisciplinary technologies to disentangle cognitive effort from task difficulty levels,optimize the measurement of cognitive effort,dynamically calibrate individual differences,and conduct multi-modal verification,and innovate measurement methods and theories to meet different research needs.
