Evaluation on fruit texture quality of 50 superior individuals from small seeds of loquat

Abstract
[Objective]The fruit texture quality of the superior individuals from small seeds of loquat was identified to provide a theoretical ba-sis for reasonable and accurate identification and evaluation of loquat fruit texture quality,and directional breeding of high-quality loquat vari-eties.[Method]Taking the fruits of 50 superior individuals from small seeds of loquat as the test materials,the 11 texture quality indexes of loquat fruits were determined by TA.XT plus texture analyzer.The correlation between the indexes was analyzed,and the principal component analysis and cluster analysis were adopted to identify the core indicators for evaluating the texture quality of loquat fruits.[Result]There were significant differences in the flesh firmness,flesh adhesiveness,flesh springiness,flesh cohesiveness,flesh gumminess,flesh chewiness,flesh resilience,peel hardness,peel pericarpbreak,peel crispness and peel pericarp toughness among 50 superior individuals from small seeds of lo-quat.The flesh firmness ranged from 24.088 N to 50.079 N,with 159 having the highest value and 214 having the lowest;The flesh adhe-siveness ranged from-5.120 MJ to-0.363 MJ,with 190 having the highest value and 151 having the lowest;The flesh springiness ranged from 0.536 mm to 0.739 mm,with 178 having the highest value and 201 having the lowest;The flesh cohesiveness ranged from 0.280 to 0.443,with 159 having the highest value and 201 having the lowest;The flesh gumminess ranged from 8.696 N to 21.710 N,with 159 having the highest value and 214 having the lowest;The flesh chewiness ranged from 5.307 MJ to 16.303 MJ,with 159 having the highest value and 201 having the lowest;The flesh resilience ranged from 0.118 to 0.219,with 178 having the highest value and 69 having the lowest;The peel hardness ranged from 2.340 N to 6.736 N,with 97 having the highest value and 28 having the lowest;The peel pericarpbreak distance ranged from 1.633 mm to 3.089 mm,with 97 having the highest value and 28 and 59 having the lowest;The peel crispness ranged from 0.240 N to 0.598 N,with 62 having the highest value and 20 having the lowest;The peel pericarp toughness ranged from 1.920 N to 7.526 N,with 27 having the highest value and 147 having the lowest.Flesh hardness and gumminess,chewability,adhesiveness and cohesiveness,springiness and cohesiveness,chewability and resilience,cohesiveness and gumminess,chewability,resilience,gumminess and chewability and resilience,chewability and resilience showed significant and positive correlation.And the peel hardness was significantly and positively correlated with the peel pericarpbreak distance and the peel crispness,while there was a significant and positive correlation between peel crispness and peel toughness.Principal component analysis extracted 4 principal components from 11 texture parameters,and the cumulative variance contribu-tion rate reached 84.309%.Based on the 4 core indexes of principal component analysis,50 superior individuals were divided into 4 groups by systematic clustering method,which were defined as soft-fruit-soft-branch group,the moderately-firm-fruit-moderately-strong-branch group,the hard-fruit-strong-branch group,and the intermediate group according to the texture parameters.[Conclusion]Four texture indexes,inclu-ding flesh chewing characteristics,flesh hardness,peel hardness and peel pericarpbreak distance,are identified as the core indexes for evalua-ting texture quality of loquat fruits.The classification basis of loquat germplasm is established based on different fruit texture and quality char-acteristics,which provide scientific basis for further utilization,innovation and directional breeding of new loquat germplasm.关键词
