Intelligent Manufacturing and the Quality of Corporate Environmental Information Disclosure:A Quasi-Natural Experiment Based on the Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot and Demonstration Program

Abstract
The integrated development of manufacturing intelligence and greening is the core objective of the 14th Five-Year Plan.Based on the data of A-share listed companies in the manufacturing industry from 2011 to 2022,this paper utilizes propensity score matching and staggered double-difference model to deeply investigate the impact and mechanism of intelligent manufacturing on the quality of corporate environmental information disclosure.It is found that intelligent manufacturing significantly promotes the improvement of corporate environmental information disclosure quality.The mechanism analysis reveals that intelligent manufacturing enhances the quality of environmental information disclosure by promoting internal green innovation and external social concern.Heterogeneity analysis based on firm characteristics reveals that intelligent manufacturing has a more pronounced effect on the quality of environmental information disclosure in non-heavily polluting firms,firms with high financing constraints,and firms with voluntary disclosure.Further economic consequence tests find that the improvement of environmental disclosure quality induced by intelligent manufacturing can enhance firms' ESG ratings,improve firms' reputations,and reduce financing costs.The study provides new perspectives for firms to improve their environmental disclosure and empirical evidence that intelligent manufacturing contributes to sustainable development.关键词
