Theory of Bacteria and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Community before and after the May Fourth Movement:Taking Yun Tieqiao as an Example

Abstract
Before and after the May Fourth Movement,the theory of bacteria was widely spread in China.Yun Tieqiao(恽铁樵)attempted to integrate the theory of bacteria into the inherent theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).On one hand,the theory of bacteria forced the TCM community to reinterpret classics,attempting to embark on the path of"re-standardization".On the other hand,it promoted the practice from treating"diseases"to improving immunity,from maintaining individual health to"public"health,from using medication to treat diseases to disinfection and sterilization,driving the modernized development of TCM.Yun's attempt not only exerted a profound influence on the development of TCM at the time,but also offers valuable insights for today's practice of integrating TCM and Western medicine.关键词
