蛋白质知识的传入及其对中医的影响
The Introduction of Protein Knowledge and Its Influence on Traditional Chinese Medicine
摘要
Abstract
By exploring the transmission and reception of Western protein knowledge in China from the 1880s to the early 1930s,it could be concluded that the introduction of this knowledge during this era not only engendered protracted scholarly debates concerning its nomenclature, physiological functions, recommended intake quantities, and qualitative attributes, but also exerted a profound influence on the theoretical underpinnings of traditional vegetarianism. This impact precipitated a paradigmatic reversal in the discourse surrounding vegetarianism:from an initial strategy of self legitimation through the appropriation of scientific authority to its progressive deconstruction within the prevailing scientific paradigm.Within this intellectual contestation, practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)occupied the position of"marginal adopters".They abstained from engaging in the controversies over protein intake requirements and maintained silence amid the indictments leveled against vegetarianism.Ultimately, they incorporated the concept of protein as a"scientific"signifier into their diagnostic and dietary therapeutic discourses in a circumscribed manner, employing it as a tactical maneuver to resist the"abolish TCM"currents and to accommodate broader societal transformations.By delineating the patterns of acceptance and metamorphosis of protein knowledge among diverse constituencies, this study elucidates the intricate modalities of encounter, negotiation, and hybridization between exogenous knowledge and endogenous cultural traditions amid the epistemological upheavals of China's modernizing epoch.关键词
