Abstract

Biodiversity monitoring constitutes a critical component of ecological observation and research,while regional vegetation landscapes provide the foundational support for biodiversity.This study illustrated the regional vegetation landscape composition of the Horqin Grassland Ecological Station by quantifying landscape het-erogeneity through the Shannon-Wiener diversity index(SHDI)and Pielou evenness index(SHEI),based on land-use data from five sites,with radii from 100 to 2000 m.Results identified that steppe grassland serves as the landscape matrix across the ecological station.There were significant variations in the area proportions of different landscape components among sites.Grasslands were the predominant type of the total area and substantially exceeding other categories.Cropland and forest-grassland ecotone followed as the secondary coverage,while the two remaining types(cropland and forest-grassland ecotone)had minimal impact.Landscape diversity(SHDI)increased significantly with spatial scale expansion,from 0.28(100 m scale)to 0.90(2000 m scale),whereas evenness(SHEI)decreased,from 0.55(100 m scale)to 0.24(2000 m scale),indicating that despite greater habitat richness at broader scales,resource distribution exhibits increasing inequality.This study establishes base-line landscape data for the National Ecosystem Research Station.These findings confirm that moderate cultivation and forest-grassland ecotone can enhance landscape diversity,providing a quantitative guidance for configuring artificial vegetation in degraded grassland restoration.Future research will integrate species diversity surveys to establish quantitative models linking landscape heterogeneity to biodiversity,thereby supporting decision-making for the construction of regional ecological security pattern.
