Abstract

Potato early blight is a leaf disease caused by Alternaria ssp.To determine the pathogen species causing potato early blight in Keshan County,Heilongjiang Province,pathogens were isolated from 15 diseased leaf samples collected across eight fields using a tissue isolation method and identified based on morphological characteristics and molecular analyses.Antagonistic strains against the early blight pathogens were screened by plate confrontation(dual-culture)assays,and their antifungal activity was evaluated.In total,16 pathogen isolates were obtained from diseased leaves:14 isolates of Alternaria alternata and 2 of A.solani.A.alternata(TJ-16)was small-spored,whereas A.solani(TJ-29)was large-spored.One strain,Bacillus velezensis ZK-18,showed strong inhibitory effects against potato early blight,markedly suppressing pathogen mycelial growth and reducing disease on detached potato leaves,with inhibition rates of 50.00%(TJ-16)and 53.59%(TJ-29),respectively.These results would provide new ideas for the biological control of potato foliar diseases.
