Analysis of DCAD Status of Feed Raw Materials and Products of Dairy Cows in Preperinatal Period

Abstract
This study investigated the dietary cation-anion difference(DCAD)of feed ingredients and total mixed rations(TMR)for perinatal dairy cows in pastures around Beijing and Hebei,China,to provide a basis for dietary formulation.Among energy feeds,wheat bran had the highest DCAD value,while wheat,corn,and corn flakes had the lowest(43.48,63.32,and 53.19 meq/kg,respectively).Soybean showed the highest DCAD among protein feeds,followed by extruded soybean,with DDGS being the lowest(-101.53 meq/kg).For roughages,Leymus chinensis,beet pellets,and alfalfa hay had higher DCAD values,with alfalfa hay showing considerable variation(331.64 to 556.53 meq/kg)depending on its origin.In silage materials,corn silage had the lowest DCAD,while alfalfa silage had the highest.The concentrate supplement for the early perinatal period had a DCAD of 127.74 meq/kg.The DCAD levels of TMR diets varied significantly across different pastures,ranging from 17.16 to 176.67 meq/kg.In conclusion,DCAD values varied substantially among different feed ingredients,and even for the same ingredient,the origin caused significant differences.Both the concentrate supplements and TMR diets for perinatal dairy cows were cationic.关键词
