Abstract

The production of feedstuffs is an important source of carbon emissions in the livestock industry,with global emissions reaching 3.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.The assessment of carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle is of great significance for the green and low-carbon transformation and high-quality development of agriculture.This article is based on the life cycle assessment(LCA)system to analyze the carbon emission characteristics of feedstuffs in agricultural material production,field production processes,and processing and transportation,and compare the contribution rates and key influencing factors of each link.The results showed that there were significant differences in carbon emissions throughout the life cycle of feedstuffs production in China,with the highest contribution rate of carbon emissions in the agricultural inputs production stage;The carbon emissions in the field production process mainly come from the direct and indirect emissions of soil N2O caused by nitrogen fertilizer application;The contribution rate of carbon emissions in the processing and transportation process is relatively small.Analysis of the feedstuffs production system revealed that climate conditions and planting patterns significantly affect emission intensity.In the future,it is necessary to build a localized LCA database,correct the regional bias of internationally recognized models,and recommend prioritizing the promotion of nitrogen fertilizer deep application technology and conservation tillage technology to reduce nitrogen fertilizer field emission intensity,optimize feed processing energy structure,etc.,to achieve full chain emission reduction,and provide scientific basis and technical path for the low-carbon transformation of animal husbandry and the coordinated achievement of the'dual carbon'goal in agriculture in China.
