Advances in exosome-mediated research on the repair of retinal light damage
摘要
Abstract
Retinal light damage is a pathological process triggered by light radiation such as visible light or lasers, leading to oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, and apoptosis of retinal cells. It is one of the significant pathogenic factors in degenerative eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration.Light radiation causes a sharp increase in the levels of reactive oxygen species within retinal cells, resulting in lipid peroxidation, protein damage, and DNA fragmentation, which in turn activate signaling pathways such as mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor-κB,promoting the release of inflammatory factors and cell apoptosis. These pathological changes ultimately disrupt the structure and function of the retina, leading to vision impairment and even blindness.A thorough investigation into the molecular mechanisms of retinal light damage and the search for effective prevention and treatment methods are crucial for maintaining visual health. In recent years, exosomes(EXO),as key mediators of intercellular communication, have shown great potential in the treatment of retinal diseases due to their ability to carry bioactive molecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids.EXO can cross the blood-retinal barrier, directly act on retinal cells, deliver therapeutic molecules, regulate the retinal microenvironment, and promote damage repair and functional recovery. This article will systematically review the mechanisms of action, therapeutic applications, and clinical translational prospects of EXO in retinal light damage.关键词
