Data Mining Based Exploration of Medication Rules in Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine TANG Youzhi's Treatment of High Myopic Atrophy Maculopathy

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the medication rules and academic thoughts of Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)TANG Youzhi in treating high myopic atrophy maculopathy(HMAM)through data mining of his medical records,providing theoretical basis and clinical reference for TCM treatment of HMAM.METHODS Medical records of HMAM patients treated in TANG Youzhi's outpatient clinic at the Eye Hospital,China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from January 2003 to December 2014 were selected.Prescription information was independently entered into Excel 2019 by two operators and cross-checked.After standardizing the aliases of Chinese medicines,data were imported into the TCM Inheritance Computing Platform V3.0 and IBM SPSS Modeler 18.0 for statistical analysis of medicinal properties,flavors,and meridian tropisms.High-frequency Chinese medicines were analyzed for frequency,frequency rate,efficacy classification,cluster analysis,and association rules,and a complex network diagram of medication association rules was plotted.RESULTS(1)Four natures,five flavors,and meridian tropisms of Chinese medicines:A total of 90 cases were included,involving 90 prescriptions and 96 Chinese medicines,with a cumulative frequency of 4,320.The four natures were predominantly warm,the five flavors were predominantly sweet,and the meridian tropisms were predominantly liver meridian.(2)Frequency of high-frequency Chinese medicines:There were 24 Chinese medicines with a frequency of use≥15 times.The top five were Radix astragali,Fructus lycii,Radix angelicae sinensis,Radix salviae miltiorrhizae,and Rhizoma polygonati.(3)Efficacy classification of high-frequency Chinese medicines:Tonics were the most common,followed by blood-activating and stasis-resolving medicines,and astringents.(4)Cluster analysis of high-frequency Chinese medicines:Three prescription groups were identified.Group Ⅰ aimed to tonify Qi and blood,nourish liver and kidney,and activate blood circulation.Group Ⅱ focused on tonifying Qi and blood,nourishing Yin,and replenishing essence.Group Ⅲ emphasized tonifying Qi and nourishing Yin,activating blood circulation,and resolving stasis.(5)Association analysis of high-frequency Chinese medicines:The top five associations were Rhizoma polygonati-Radix polygoni multiflori praeparata,Rhizoma polygonati-Radix polygoni multiflori praeparata and Radix astragali,Rhizoma polygonati-Radix polygoni multiflori praeparata and Fructus lycii,Fructus lycii-Fructus rubi and Radix astragali,Fructus lycii-Fructus rubi.CONCLUSIONS TANG Youzhi's treatment of HMAM is based on the core theory of Qi and blood theory as the foundation and the collateral disease theory as the application,with the treatment principles of regulating both Qi and blood,treating liver and kidney simultaneously,combining tonification and unblocking,and focusing on collateral diseases.Treatment is staged,and he skillfully uses Radix astragali-Fructus lycii-Radix salviae miltiorrhizae-Radix angelicae sinensis-Radix polygoni multiflori praeparata as the prescription framework to address the root cause of the disease.关键词
