Research and Application Progress of CNT Cold-cathode Multi-beam X-ray Sources

Abstract
This paper introduces the concept,composition,and historical background of CNT cold-cathode X-ray source and multi-beam X-ray sources.Three key characteristics of CNT cold-cathode are summarized:(1)sim-ple structure,compact size,enabling high-density integration;(2)room-temperature operation,straightforward con-trol,and no thermal management issues;(3)cathode current and operational lifespan meeting application require-ments.The paper reviews global research progress in cold-cathode multi-beam X-ray sources.International ad-vancements include the studies on CNT cold-cathode multi-beam X-ray source medical static 3D imaging systems,and static security CT systems.These efforts indicate the growing appeal of CNT cold-cathode multi-beam X-ray sources and their applications.Meanwhile,China has already taken a leading role in this field,having successfully developed CNT cold-cathode multi-beam X-ray sources with up to 256 focal spots,anode operating currents ran-ging from 7 mA to 50 mA,anode voltages up to 200 kV,and operational lifespans exceeding tens of thousands of hours.These X-ray sources have achieved notable application advances in security inspection,industrial testing and medical imaging.For example,security CT systems now support static imaging with scanning channels size excee-ding 1 m and throughput speeds up to 1.5 m/s,having received top-tier certifications from Civil Aviation Adminis-tration of China and ECAC 3.1 in Europe,with nearly 100 units currently deployed.High-speed industrial CT sys-tems,capable of capturing up to 10 frames per second,play a crucial role in analyzing high-speed flow fields,abla-tion process,and motion fatigue testing.Dental 3D imaging systems have obtained FDA certification,with nearly 100 units sold.Additionally,a mobile chest tomographic imaging approach garnered significant attention at the RS-NA exhibition.As the technical features of CNT cold-cathode multi-beam X-ray sources become increasingly clear,and the advantages of static 3D imaging systems are firmly established.The participation of internationally re-nowned companies in related research signals that this technology and its applications are poised to enter a phase of rapid development.关键词
