美国智库为何失去了公信力?
Why Have American Think Tanks Lost Their Credibility:Analysis Based on the Tracking Database of Think Tank Funding Support

Abstract
[Purpose/Significance]By analyzing concrete data and case studies,this paper reveals how U.S.think tanks have gradually shifted from institutions of"independent research"to entities exhibiting features of"policy lobbying".It further examines the potential impact of this transformation on public decision-making and social trust,providing targeted insights for Chinese think tanks on institutional design and funding governance.[Method/Process]Based on the think tank funding tracker database released by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft,this study conducts an empirical analysis of the funding sources,and scales for the top fifty U.S.think tanks over the past five years.[Result/Conclusion]The results indicate that substantial lobbying funding from foreign governments,and defense contractors has profoundly influenced think tanks'agenda-setting and policy stances.Meanwhile,"dark money"donations and a lack of funding transparency have further fueled societal skepticism regarding think tanks'independence,significantly undermining their credibility.关键词
