Evaluation of Feeding Value of Astragali Radix Residues Based on Multiple Types of Components

Abstract
Objective:To provide a basis for the development of Astragali Radix residues as feed through comparison of functional nutrients in the roots and shoots of Astragalus membranaceus and the residues of Astragali Radix.Methods:The filtration method was used to determine the content of acid detergent fiber(ADF)and neutral detergent fiber(NDF).The Kjeldahl method was used to determine crude protein content.The phenyl isothiocyanate-acetonitrile method and pre-column derivatization method were employed to determine the content of total hydrolyzed amino acids.An automatic fat analyzer was used to determine crude fat content.The gravimetric method was used to determine crude ash content.UV-visible spectrophotometry was employed to determine the content of soluble polysaccharides,total flavonoids,and total saponins.High-performance liquid chromatography was adopted to determine the content of flavonoids.Results:The mass fractions of NDF,ADF,crude protein,crude fat,and crude ash in Astragali Radix residues were 64.73%,47.18%,10.57%,1.26%,and 5.14%,respectively.The mass fractions of soluble polysaccharides,total flavonoids,total saponins,calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside,calycosin,ononin,and formononetin were 92.45,7.98,9.61,1.45,1.59,0.62,and 0.52 mg·g-1,respectively.Conclusion:Astragali Radix residues had higher fiber content but lower protein and functional substance content than the raw medicinal materials and lower functional substance content than the shoots of A.membranaceus.Astragali Radix residues possess certain feeding value.Therefore,targeted development is required based on the specific characteristics of Astragali Radix residues.关键词
