Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the safety of deer blood crystals sterilized by electron beam irradiation.Methods:Deer blood crystals were Deer blood crystals were subjected to irradiation at doses of 4,6,8,10,20,30,and 40 kGy using an electron linear accelerator.The changes of microbial load of deer blood crystals before and after irradiation were compared.Genetic damage in the irradiated samples was assessed using a gene testing method.Zebrafish embryos were used as the research objects to investigate the toxicity of deer blood crystals irradiated by electron beam.Results:When the electron beam irradiation dose reached 8 kGy,the microbial load of deer blood crystals decreased significantly.When the electron beam irradiation doses reached 10,20,30,and 40 kGy,no obvious damage appeared in the deer-specific genes of deer blood crystals.When the electron beam irradiation doses reached 10,20,30 and 40 kGy,deer blood crystals did not exert obvious toxicity in zebrafish embryos.Conclusion:The electron beam irradiation at a dose of 8 kGy demonstrated good sterilization effect,and no significant genetic damage or toxicity appeared in deer blood crystals after high-dose irradiation.
