Abstract
This study investigates the effects of Al-5Ti-1B on the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356.2 aluminum alloy produced by traditional casting.The results demonstrate that the addition of 1%Al-5Ti-1B effectively refines the α-Al grain size.Simultaneously,the refined α-Al grains provided more uniform nucleation sites for eutectic Si,transforming its morphology from coarse elongated flake-like and needle-like to finer rod-like and short needle-like structures with homogeneous distribution.The fluidity improved after addition of 1%Al-5Ti-1B,reducing the porosity and improving the casting density of the samples extracted from different locations of the components.These improvements ultimately increased the strength and ductility simultaneously.After T6 heat treatment,the addition of 1%Al-5Ti-1B refined grain modifier to A356.2 alloy castings resulted in an average yield strength of 224 MPa and elongation of 4.5%,representing increases of 10.1%and 35.9%,respectively,compared to the unmodified A356.2 alloy.关键词
