Characteristics of Lithocaps and Implications for Prospecting
摘要
Abstract
The lithocap serves as the most direct surface manifestation of the porphyry-epithermal mineralization system.It holds significant potential for deposit exploration,with its root potentially indicating high-sulfidation deposits,deeper sections associated with porphyry deposits,and the outermost near-surface alteration zones suitable for identifying intermedium to low-sulfidation deposits.Therefore,a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the characteristics and properties of lithocaps is essential for exploring economically viable copper-gold deposits in extensively altered blind mining areas.This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the geomorphic features,geological alteration characteristics,mineral composition,and fluid properties of lithocaps.It outlines methods for studying and exploring these lithocaps,focusing on the mineralogical and geochemical properties and genesis mechanisms of the representative mineral alunite.The paper also discusses how short-wave infrared spectroscopy and geochemical signatures can be utilized to locate hydrothermal or mineralized centers,thereby providing a scientific basis and strategic direction for deposit exploration.Finally,this paper uses the Lepanto lithocap in the Mankayan area,Philippines,and the Fanshan lithocap in the Luzong basin,Anhui Province,China,as case studies to illustrate the application of research and exploration techniques for porphyry deposits.These examples provide practical references for utilizing lithocaps in deposit exploration efforts.关键词
