Professor Zheng Jin's Experience in Treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Based on the Theory of Phlegm and Blood Stasis

Abstract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is one of the most common chronic respiratory diseases in clinical prac-tice,primarily manifested as cough,sputum production,and wheezing.Its pathogenesis is closely associated with environmental fac-tors and intrinsic host factors.Based on the theory of"intermingled phlegm and blood stasis",Professor Zheng Jin posits that"phlegm"and"blood stasis"are the core pathological factors underlying the progression of COPD.These two factors dynamically in-teract and mutually exacerbate,ultimately leading to the development of the"intermingled phlegm-stasis syndrome".Guided by the dynamic evolution of the disease,Professor Zheng categorizes this syndrome into three subtypes for tailored treatment:Phlegm-dominant subtype(more phlegm,less stasis),treated with spleen-strengthening and phlegm-resolving methods;Stasis-dominant sub-type(less phlegm,more stasis),managed via blood-activating and qi-promoting therapies;Severe intermingled phlegm-stasis sub-type,addressed with the self-developed Huatan Quyu Pingchuan Formula(Phlegm-Resolving and Stasis-Dispersing Panting-Relieving Formula),which integrates Yunnan ethnic medicine to simultaneously resolve phlegm and stasis.A clinical case study is included to illustrate this approach,providing novel insights for COPD management.关键词
