Optimization of industrial culture conditions of sulfate-reducing bacteria and their application in the inhibition for Cd and Pb accumulation in rice grains

Abstract
[Purpose]To optimize the industrial culture conditions of sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB)and evaluate the inhibitory effects of industrially fermented SRB on cadmium(Cd)and lead(Pb)accumulation in rice grown in paddy fields.[Method]The culture conditions including carbon source,nitrogen source,inorganic salt mass concentration,and pH of a SRB strain YWC001 in an industrial-scale fermenter were optimized,and the optimal industrial fermentation parameters were obtained.Furthermore,plot trials were conducted in paddy fields to assess the inhibitory effects of the industrial fermentation broth of YWC001 on Cd and Pb up-take in rice plants.[Result]Strain YWC001 achieved optimal growth under the conditions of 10 g·L-1 molasses,10 g·L-1 corn steep liquor,10 g·L-1 NaCl,and pH 7.0,with the concentration reaching approximately 12.6×109 CFU·mL-1.Application of the industrial fermentation broth of YWC001 to moderately Cd-contaminated paddy soil planted with the rice cultivar Yongyou 15 in-creased the rice yield by 12%,while decreasing the Cd and Pb concentrations in rice grains by 30.9%and 56.9%,respectively.[Conclusion]Strain YWC001 can be cultured cost-effectively on an industrial scale.Strain YWC001 in industrial fermentation sig-nificantly alleviated Cd and Pb toxicity in rice plants,enhanced the grain yield,and inhibited the uptake and accumulation of Cd and Pb,demonstrating considerable application potential.关键词
