Abstract

[Objective]With the development of cities and improvements in water supply enterprise management,the management of non-revenue water in water supply networks and leak control have become important management issues for water supply enterprises.In order to optimize leakage detection and repair strategies,it's necessary to explore scientific methods for assessing leakage volumes in water supply networks.[Methods]Based on the accurate measurement data of leakage loss water in district metering area(DMA),this study analyzed the distribution of leakage volume in five leakage types and established the correlation between leakage type,pipe diameter,leakage status,and leakage volume.[Results]The distribution of leakage volume indicated that the highest probability of leakage occurs at pipe and fitting joints.However,in the early stages of leakage,the leakage volume from different types of leakage was similar.Referring to the leakage volume comparison relationship proposed in the study,water supply companies could combine on-site leakage information to accurately measure the leakage volume which leaked outside the DMA could not be precisely metered.This allowed for quantifying the effectiveness of leak detection and repair work,thereby facilitating quantitative analysis of leakage control and non-revenue water management by water supply companies.[Conclusion]Additionally,based on the distribution patterns of leakage points and water volume loss in different types of faults,it is proposed that water supply enterprises should enhance the efficiency of leak detection and repair,and strengthen the management of pipe and pipe fitting interface construction and material selection for leakage loss control.
