葛译《列子》中水文化思想的英译特色及"误译"研究
English translation characteristics and mistranslation of water culture thoughts in Graham's translated version of Liezi
摘要
Abstract
The English version of Liezi translated by British sinologist A.C.Graham is not only the first complete English translation in the world,but also recognized as the most academically valuable translation in the Western world.With analysis of the English translation which involves"water"in Graham's translation of Liezi,this paper represents three major characteristics of Graham's version,including paying more attention to logical coherence of the text,adding notes at the end of its paragraphs,using concise and easy-to-understand language.However,a cer-tain degree of mistranslation can also be found in Graham's translation.This article also attempts to analyze the rea-sons for the"mistranslation"of thoughts of water culture in Graham's translation,so as to provide some inspiration for the future translation of Chinese classics into English.关键词
