Industrial Application and Research Trends of Wet-Process Phosphoric Acid Purification Technology

Abstract
Phosphoric acid is a critical industrial chemical with extensive applications across various sectors.In China,phosphoric acid production is predominantly based on the wet-process route,which often yields products of insufficient purity to meet the stringent requirements for food-grade and electronic-grade phosphoric acid.Numerous purification methods have been developed to refine wet-process phosphoric acid(WPA).Among these,solvent extraction is widely employed internationally due to its efficiency,scalability,and cost-effectiveness.This review summarizes extraction processes adopted by various countries and corporations,examines the technical features of different methodologies,and concludes that the purity ceiling achievable via solvent extraction generally corresponds to food-grade phosphoric acid.In contrast,crystallization-based techniques,which involve precise control over crystallization conditions and equipment optimization,enable further purification of WPA into high-purity products suitable for electronic applications.This paper also outlines recent advances in cooling crystallization and melt crystallization,comparing the strengths and limitations of different crystalline refinement approaches.Finally,it is proposed that the integration of multiple purification technologies will be essential for achieving efficient and sustainable production of electronic-grade phosphoric acid,representing an inevitable trend in the industry's development.关键词
