Between Mountains and Water:Environmental Protection Practices and Resilient Governance in a Village at the Source of the Yangtze River

Abstract
The ecological status of the Three-River-Source region is significant and unique.It is imperative to view its protection from the perspective of the sustainable development of the Chinese nation and prioritize it in ecological civi-lization construction.This study based on field research in Cuochi Village,the northern source of the Yangtze River in Qin-ghai Province,systematically analyzes the environmental protection practices of Cuochi Village from the dimensions of its unique natural and cultural landscapes and current daily life.It presents the adaptability and resilience of traditional eco-logical knowledge and a new governance model.The environmental protection practices in the Three-River-Source region have always revolved around the evolution and reconstruction of ecological cognition,action logic,and resilience gover-nance among multiple actors:traditional ecological knowledge continues to play a positive role in environmental protec-tion practices;the intervention of social forces effectively integrates various resources,providing new ideas and methods for solving environmental problems;and the policies and systems introduced by the government have established an exter-nal support force for environmental protection practices.These measures offer localized solutions for reshaping the interac-tion between humans,culture,and the ecological environment,and provide a vivid case study for comprehensively pro-moting harmonious coexistence between humans and nature in modernization through an in-depth ethnographic approach.关键词
