Key Areas and Frontier Trends in Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction

Abstract
Against the backdrop of climate change,cities face increasing risks of extreme weather events and disasters.Ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction(Eco-DRR)serves as a critical pathway to climate change adaptation,and yet the research in this area remains relatively scarce in China.Based on English literature in 2007-2024 from the Web of Science Core Collection,this study conducts a bibliometric analysis of current international Eco-DRR research and maps the research trend using CiteSpace,thereby identifying the key areas and frontier trend of Eco-DRR research.Key findings show that the current Eco-DRR research focuses on disaster risk assessment,mitigation performance evaluation and practice,economic cost analysis and funding mechanisms,and integrated environmental/human well-being benefits.Emerging frontiers include hazard and regional scope expansion,multi-benefit evaluation,and integration with emerging technologies.Future research should put the focus on the reality from a resilience and safety perspective to apply artificial intelligence technologies and investigate theoretical framework and sustainable implementation pathways of Eco-DRR.Additionally,efforts should be taken to advance its integration with technical systems for spatial planning of disaster risk reduction.关键词
