Research Progress and Evaluation Methods on Bikeability in Urban Cycling Spaces from a Human-centric Perspective

Abstract
The current research on bikeability encompasses diverse subjects and objectives,with significant variations in evaluation metrics and methodologies.This paper reviews international research progress and evaluation approaches for urban bikeability at both supply and demand dimensions from a human-centered perspective.The supply dimension includes evaluation methods for macro-level elements of cycling infrastructure and micro-level factors to cycling spatial quality,while the demand dimension encompasses evaluation methods for macro-level spatial demand and micro-level visual perception and psychological preferences.After analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of various methods from the supply and demand dimensions as well as the future research directions,a supply-demand evaluation framework for bikeability is proposed.Finally,four dimensions for future research are outlined,i.e.,spatial supply,cycling demand,system construction,and data robustness.These include clarifying key spatial supply factors influencing cycling experiences,developing dynamic embodied perception technologies for cycling using artificial intelligence,establishing a multi-scale evaluation system with dynamic feedback coupling supply and demand,and enhancing the robustness of multi-source data fusion and utilization.关键词
