Abstract
Objective In order to evaluate the differences in serum vitamin D levels in patients with alopecia areata(AA)and its clinical significance.Methods Literature related to AA and vitamin D was retrieved from seven Chinese and English databases,covering the period from the establishment of each database up to November 17,2024.After quality assessment of the 25 studies meeting all inclusion criteria,serum vitamin D levels in the AA case groups and control groups were extracted from the literature.The weighted mean difference(WMD)and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)for each study were analyzed using a random-effects model.Results AA patients showed significantly lower serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D]levels than controls(WMD was-1.15,95%CI was-1.92 to-0.37,P<0.001).The difference was more pronounced in pediatric and female subgroups.Conclusion Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in AA patients,and routine assessment of vitamin D levels along with appropriate supplementation may be beneficial in the management of AA patients.关键词
