Abstract
Accurately identifying the freeze-thaw process plays an important role in climate and ecosystem studies.This paper focused on the transition characteristics of the surface freeze-thaw state in seasonal frozen soil and presented a study on the identification of near-surface freeze-thaw status in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau region using global navigation satellite sys-tem reflectometry(GNSS-R)technology.The study was based on the cyclone global navigation satellite system(CYGNSS)observational data from 2020,combined with European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)reanalysis v5(ERA-5)Land reanalysis data from the ECMWF,and the soil moisture active passive(SMAP)freeze-thaw product to construct a feature dataset.An extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)machine learning algorithm was introduced to classify and identify the near-surface freeze-thaw states of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.The results show that the model built using CYGNSS data and XGBoost achieves an accuracy of 76.13%in freeze-thaw state classification,with an area under the curve(AUC)value of 0.77 in the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.The high classification performance demon-strates the feasibility and effectiveness of GNSS-R technology in surface freeze-thaw detection.关键词
