Abstract

While ensuring fabric comfort and good basic mechanical protective properties,the impact of warp density,fabric structure and weft insertion ratio on static puncture and cut resistance was explored by adopting UHMWPE fibers as warp yarns and interweaving with DTY yarns in the weft direction.The results indicated that optimal comprehensive performance was achieved with a warp density of 600 threads/10 cm,plain weave struc-ture and a weft insertion ratio of UHMWPE∶DTY=1∶2.The air permeability of the fabrics prepared under these parameters was 177.796 mm/s,the warp bending stiffness was 0.2138 gf·cm2/cm,the weft bending stiffness was 0.2146 gf·cm2/cm,the maximum puncture force was 20.22 N,and the critical cut loads was 220 g(warp)and 550 g(weft),respectively,showing good comfort and meeting the minimum cut and puncture resist-ance requirements for mechanical hazard protective clothing specified in GB 24541.The research provided a ref-erence for the design and applications of high-performance fabrics in fields such as civilian protective clothing and outdoor lightweight equipment.
