Impacts and spatial spillover effects of new quality productivity on green and low-carbon energy transformation

Abstract
Leading energy transformation with new quality productivity is an important key drivers for promoting high-quality development in the new era.Based on the provincial panel data from 2012 to 2021 in China,this study employs a benchmark regression model and a spatial Durbin model with alternative spatial weight matrices to examine how the development of new quality productivity empowers the green and low-carbon transformation of energy systems.The results indicate that new quality productivity exerts a significant enabling effect on green and low-carbon energy transformation.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the facilitating effect of new quality productivity on green and low-carbon energy transformation is stronger at the high quartile level of new quality productivity.The new quality productivity has strong spatial autocorrelation and exerts a positive spatial spillover effect on green low-carbon energy transformation in the surrounding areas.This conclusion still holds after the robustness and endogeneity tests.Accordingly,China should accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productivity,leveraging it as a strategic opportunity to advance a green and low-carbon energy transformation.关键词
