Abstract

Due to special geological conditions,stress influences of underground structures,and safety escape trunk requirements,the tunnels with middle partition walls have become increasingly common in railway tunnels.To investigate the pressure wave characteristics of high-speed railway tunnels with perforated middle partition walls,this study employed the k-ω SST two-equation turbulence model and overset mesh technology to simulate tunnel pressure waves in the tunnel with a perforated middle partition wall.The characteristics of pressure waves on tunnels and train surface were compared with those of the tunnel without a middle partition wall but with an unperforated middle wall and a perforated middle wall.The study examined the influence of perforated middle partition walls on the flow field in high-speed railway tunnels,revealed the mechanism by which middle partition wall perforations mitigate tunnel pressure waves,and summarized the impact of perforation area and perforation spacing on pressure wave waveforms and amplitudes.The results show that perforations in the middle partition wall significantly enhance ventilation,effectively reducing the pressure fluctuations,and promoting pressure equilibrium between the two sides of the middle partition wall,which is generated by a train passing through the tunnel.Compared to the unperforated middle wall,the peak-to-peak pressure on the surface of the train and the tunnel decreased by 44.68%and 53.12%with the perforated middle wall,respectively.Pressure wave amplitudes on the train and tunnel surface significantly decrease with increasing perforation area,while increasing with increasing perforation gap.When the ratio of the perforation area to the tunnel clear area exceeds 0.05,further increasing the perforation area no longer significantly attenuates the pressure wave.When the ratio of perforation gap to the tunnel equivalent diameter exceeds 17.73,train surface pressure waveforms show marked differences compared to tunnels without middle partition walls.The perforated middle partition wall induces quasi-periodic pressure oscillations on the train surface,and the oscillation amplitude increases with the increase of perforation area and perforation spacing.
