Development of 12 kV Plasma Jet Trigger Gap for Double-power Supply Interrupt Switching

Abstract
In order to meet the requirements of high-tech industries for 20 ms power supply without interruption,it was proposed to adopt 3~5 ms opening fast circuit breaker in parallel with ultra-high-speed shutdown triggering gap within 1 ms to constitute a dual-power-supply uninterruptible switching scheme,and the key technology of AC 12 kV gas plasma jet triggering gap and the productization and development of the product was researched.Firstly,according to the applica-tion scenario of power supply uninterruptible switching device,the key technical requirements of trigger gap are clarified.For the needs of high-performance triggering,a single-stage micro-cavity plasma triggering method was proposed,a co-axial laminated productization triggering cavity was designed,a triggering characteristic test platform was built,and triggering performance test research was carried out.The results show that the gap can be triggered at a minimum voltage of 1.5 kV,with a trigger delay of 0.2 ms or less,and a no-load trigger life of 1 800 times at 4 kV.For the needs of large current flow and fast insulation recovery after arc,based on the principle of spinning arc of transversemagnetic electrode,the design of main electrode of spinning arc was completed,spinning arc simulation was carried out,and structural di-mensions of main electrode were determined.The current test results show that the arc can rotate along the edge of the main electrode at a high speed,realizing 31.5 kA/10 ms/20 times(including two tests with the maximum DC component peak value of 80 kA)current,and can withstand the 12 kV circuit breaker short-circuit breaking restoration voltage for 100 ms after the arc is extinguished.Based on the solution of the above key issues,the design of AC 12 kV three-phase common air chamber type trigger gap structure has been completed.The prototype has been developed and verified by performance tests,and the key technical indexes of insulation,triggering and through-current fully meet the requirements of the use of dual-supply uninterruptible switching devices.The plasma jet gas triggering gap developed in this paper can be used as a general-purpose ultra-high-speed closing switch,and can also be used for mechanical DC circuit breakers to realize the rapid input of the transfer branch;meanwhile,the phase selector controller can achieve accurate selection of the relevant closure,the rapid control of AC and DC controllable lightning arrester,fast bypass protection and other ap-plications that require ultra-high-speed closing or bypass and other application scenarios,which are of high value in terms of research and application.关键词
