Design of an Ultra-broadband Metamaterial Absorber with Angle-insensitive Characteristics Covering the L/S/C/X and Ku Bands

Abstract
The research on wideband electromagnetic metamaterial absorbers with angle insensitive characteristics plays an irreplaceable role in improving electromagnetic compatibility,achieving high-efficiency electromagnetic protection and breaking through stealth technology.Aiming at the broadband stealth problem faced by radar absorbing materials,a composite metamaterial absorbing body with ultra-broadband and angle-insensitive is proposed.The three-dimensional structure uses high resistance surface to design metamaterial absorber,and its working frequency band covers S,C,X and Ku bands.By adding magnetic materials to the bottom of the structure,the overall absorbing bandwidth can be extended to below L band.The full-wave simulation demonstrates that the designed absorber has a fractional absorption bandwidth of 183.9%from 0.84~20 GHz,with a thickness of 0.074λmax at the lowest frequency.In addition,the proposed composite metamaterial absorber not only has the characteristics of ultra-wideband and angle-insensitive,but also has the advantages of dual polarization.Under TM polarization,the angular stability of the model can reach 60°.The experimental results are basically consistent with the simulation results,thus verifying the effectiveness of the design of metamaterial absorber.This design can realize the broadband stealth of radar targets and improve the probability of military targets avoiding enemy radar detection.关键词
