Antarctic krill resources and application of its chitin:a re-view
摘要
Abstract
In recent decades,chitin and its derivatives have attracted great attention because of their unique proper-ties;however,the stability and quality of raw material resources have emerged as key challenges limiting their high-value application.This issue is particularly critical in the development of biomaterials for medical use,which needs a stable and uniform supply of chitin.Antarctic krill,with its vast biomass,high renewability,minimal indi-vidual-specific differences,and abundant and stable availability,presents a promising alternative.Its distinct natural characteristics make it especially suitable for fabricating medical-grade biomaterials,particularly as a potential source of high-quality chitosan.China's Antarctic krill-associated large-scale fishing technology,comprehensive processing capabilities,and utilization systems have developed continuously.This paper systematically reviews the biological resources,natural distribution characteristics,and utilization of Antarctic krill.It also summarizes the structural characteristics,preparation technology,and biological characteristics of Antarctic krill-based chitin and its main derivatives.Recent research progress in this field is also discussed so as to promote the comprehensive utilization and sustainable development of high-value Antarctic krill resources.Further in-depth research would enormously enhance the development and application potential of krill-derived chitin.关键词
