Stigmatization among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder in China
摘要
Abstract
Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)comprises a group of heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by varying degrees of impairment in social interaction and communication,restricted interests,repetitive stereotyped behaviors,and sensory anomalies.Children with ASD frequently encounter stigmatization,including stereotypes targeted at the children themselves as well as widespread misunderstandings and discrimination toward the disorder within mainstream society.Stigma not only affects children with ASD but also extends to those closely associated with them,especially their parents.Drawing on existing research conducted in China,this review systematically elaborates on the influencing factors,adverse consequences,and coping strategies associated with the stigma experienced by parents of children with ASD.Its primary objectives are to enhance public understanding of ASD,reduce prejudice,promote science popularization and educational initiatives,foster an inclusive social environment,and ultimately promote the development and social integration of children with ASD.关键词
