From Growth to Symbiosis:Exploring Renovation and Expansion Models for University Libraries

Abstract
Under the dual impetus of high-quality development in higher education and digital transformation in China,university libraries commonly face fundamental challenges of spatial overload and functional lag.To address these issues,this paper innovatively proposes three main models for renovation and expansion:single-building renovation,horizontal expansion,and vertical expansion.It further analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each model,summarizes their adaptability,and explores renovation and expansion pathways for university libraries in the era of stock development.By reconstructing library spaces to revitalize academic communities,this study aims to promote the coordinated evolution of spatial efficiency and user services,ultimately positioning university libraries as sustainable knowledge centers for academic innovation and cultural inheritance.关键词
