Abstract

Coal pyrolysis tar catalytic upgrading can convert its heavy components into light aromatic hydrocarbons.However,in conventional Ni/HZSM-5 catalysts,most Ni species are located on the external surface of the zeolite,which leads to excessive cracking of the tar while increasing the content of light aromatic hydrocarbons.This study used a zeolite interconversion method based on H-Beta as the parent zeolite to prepare xNi@HZSM-5(where x represents the Ni content in mass frac-tion),effectively encapsulating Ni metal within the channels of the zeolite.The spatial confinement characteristics of the HZSM-5 channels were used to activate hydrogen-rich gas and separate the active sites for tar cracking.At the same time,this method successfully overcomed the drawback of insufficient metal encapsulation in traditional hydrothermal synthesis.The study finds that after zeolite interconversion,the 5Ni@HZSM-5 catalyst exhibites uniform rice-grain-like particles with highly dis-persed Ni species.During in-situ catalytic cracking,modification of the catalyst support before and after zeolite interconversion has little effect on tar characteristics.Furthermore,the interconverted catalyst produces higher yields of total and light tar fractions compared with the parent zeolite.The catalytic performance of xNi@HZSM-5 toward tar model compounds,such as pyrene and fluoran-thene,is investigated under a H2 atmosphere,as well as the effects on hydrogenation products.The results show that the 5Ni@HZSM-5 catalyst achieves the highest conversion rates for pyrene and fluor-anthene,49.1%and 56.8%,respectively.At this point,the selectivity for light aromatic hydrocar-bons also reaches its maximum,70.3%and 76.0%,respectively.
